ATM Networking Technology Print

Vcomms' solutions for ATM networks comprise of a central Front End Processing (FEP) server or servers and multiple Vista devices. The FEP servers manage the Host connections. Vistas provide management functionality to the network, including software and configuration uploads, access control, alarms, logs, and activity reports.

Vcomms ATM Network

A Vista is located at each ATM site and connects directly to the ATM, or to multiple ATMs when using a multi-drop sharing device (line splitter). The Vista forwards the transaction payload sent by the ATM to the FEP server over a permanent logical IP connection. The FEP server routes transactions from the Vistas to the appropriate Bank Host in the required protocol format.

The FEP server and Vistas provide end-to-end transaction acknowledgements, drastically reducing the transaction losses, duplications, and reversals that are commonly associated with other ATM over IP architectures.

Dedicated-Line Replacement

Replacing expensive dedicated data connections for remote ATMs.

The ATM plugs directly into an RS232 or Ethernet port on the Vista, which provides the ATM with whatever protocol interface it requires. The Vista connects to the network via either a GPRS (wireless) interface or Ethernet (e.g. enterprise WAN) to a FEP server. The FEP server connects to the bank Host (IP, X.25, SNA, etc.)

Dial-Line Replacement

Vcomms' solution for dial-line ATM networks replaces dial connections and results in better performance, typically at lower than PSTN line rental cost. The solution also lowers transaction transport costs.

The ATM plugs directly into the Vista, which is configured as a normal dial-line. The Vista connects to the network via either a GPRS (wireless) interface or Ethernet (e.g. enterprise WAN) to a FEP server. The FEP server connects to the Bank Host (IP, X.25, etc.)
