Front End Processors Print

Vcomms provide access gateways that sit between the terminals and the bank host to provide security, transaction concentration, network management, reporting, and migration to IP.

Vcomms’ Front End Processors (FEP), also called communications processors, are designed specifically for ATM and EFTPOS financial networking. With support for current and legacy host protocols, you retain your investment in host equipment, migrate to low cost IP networking, and introduce feature rich network management.

A cluster of FEP servers can be geographically distributed to provide a high availability platform with an evenly distributed load. Vcomms systems are scalable, as more servers can be added to the cluster as the network load increases. Vistas retain a list of all servers on the network and automatically select another server in the event of a failure.

The use of a FEP provides the ability to load share and manage transaction flows from the terminal fleet across host systems and applications. It also allows the terminal side connection to be terminated at the servers, which can be placed in an extranet that has no direct terminal access, further preserving the security of the host network.

Vistas are managed and configured within the FEP platform allowing remote statistics gathering, remote configuration, and software uploads.

Third party terminal management applications

Support is provided for terminal management applications such as Triton Connect and Tidel AIMS allowing host side management connections to the Vista connected ATMs.
